Specialized Aethos Pro SRAM Force eTap AXS Disc Carbon Road Bike
The Aethos Pro Force AXS Road Bike by Specialized - Focus on ride quality
The Specialized Aethos Pro is a road bike equipped with electronic SRAM Force eTap 2x12-speed components including power meter, based on a very lightweight carbon frame for disc brakes. This ensures a perfect riding experience, efficiency and comfort, no matter how long the ride is and whether you're going uphill or downhill. In its development, the engineers have used the latest technologies to modify round tube shapes in such a way that cuts down on superfluous material and increases rigidity. In keeping with the Rider First Engineered™ philosophy, Specialized has taken into account the optimal carbon layup for each individual frame size. Complementing the AXS groupset, Specialized attachments and Roval wheels combine to create a stylish whole, where the focus is not on winning, but on flow and the feeling of freedom.

Technology:
FACT™FACT is an acronym for " Functional Advanced Composite Technology" and summarises all the know-how that Specialized has in the use of carbon fibre. It is a holistic approach, which primarily concerns the bike frames, but is found in many components such as handlebars, stems, saddles etc. The starting point is always the awareness for the needs of riders and the capability to fulfil them. Next, the selection of fibres, resins and fabric layers takes place; in this process the quality of the carbon and the arrangement of the fibre layers play an important role. It is important to find the right set-up for the project at hand and the intended location or rather the area of application. It is often necessary to differentiate from model to model at several points. In the final step, attention is paid to processing the material in a way that allows the desired advantages in terms of low weight, rigidity and stability to be achieved.
Rider-First Engineered™
Rider-First Engineered describes the design approach used by Specialized to precisely match each frame size to the target group. Simply put, smaller frames for smaller riders are built in a different way than larger frames for larger riders. This is done on the basis of performance parameters determined in practical tests, taking into account the forces acting on different areas of the bike when riders of different sizes ride it. Based on this analysis, the optimum tube dimensions and the appropriate carbon fibre covering for the respective frame size are determined. This way you can be sure that no matter what your height is, you will receive a bike that delivers optimal and controllable performance suited to your size.
Supercomputer Simulations
In the beginning stages of development for the Specialized Aethos was the theory that the shape of a frame makes all difference in ride quality. To get to the bottom of this, elaborate simulations performed in a virtual testing environment were utilised. 100,000 frame designs, each with different degrees of bottom bracket stiffness, both head tube stiffness and overall stiffness were calculated by supercomputers. From the vast amount of resulting data, an optimal riding form was gradually developed by adding more filters. The result is a super-light frame with a smaller diameter bottom bracket and seat tube than conventional models. Elongated tapered sections were incorporated into the tubes, allowing for a significant reduction in carbon layers (minus 11% compared to the S-Works Tarmac SL6) and therefore weight. Thanks to the widening of the top tube and down tube and a matching connection to the bottom bracket and seatstays, the result was a stable, perfectly balanced machine that provides the ultimate riding experience.
