Review: the Endura Pro SL Classics Jersey II

A functional jersey is everything when it comes to wet and cold rides. The Pro SL Classics II is the perfect choice when the weather starts looking down.

Athletic apparel has come a long way when it comes to function and aerodynamics. Not only were professional and amateur cyclists in the early 2000s riding without helmets; they were also clothed in loose fitting, and by today’s standards, antiquated lycra jerseys.

From the pro peloton to your closet

Races like the Spring Classics are the perfect example of how clothing and rider are put to the test. Some of the pro tours most challenging routes are ridden in cold, rainy and windy weather. Riding through Belgium, France and the Netherlands, often on cobbles, requires riders give their all. Add horizontal rain and temperatures hovering just above 0° and things don’t get any better. Thank the heavens that nowadays there are clothes to fit these types of conditions, like Endura’s Pro SL Classics Jersey II with arm warmers.

The Endura SL Classics Jersey II by Endura sits tight, but comfortable.

It sits tight, but is still comfortable.

3 in 1

This jersey offers three different articles of clothing all in one, the first being the wind and waterproof jersey. When combined with the arm warmers, the jersey turns into a jacket. The third article comes alive when the additional bib is pulled out, which keeps rear-ends from getting wet in especially rainy weather.

The zipper of the Endura Pro SL Classics Jersey II is also water proof.

The jersey is also waterproof.

The Material

The ExoShell25ST™ material is breathable up to 25,000 g/m2/24h and has a waterproofness of 30,000 mm.

With this jersey there is no longer a need to wear a plastic rain jacket, which always ends up keeping your sweat inside soaking you anyway.

Pro-style race cut

The Pro SL series was developed with the Spanish pro team Moviestar. The materials used aren’t just extremely functional, but they are cut in a way that keeps the jersey tight fitting. This makes sense when one considers that the jersey fits riders like Nairo Quintana and Alejandro Valverde. I am 1.78 m tall and weigh +/- 74 kg and the M jersey fits me perfectly. It sits tight, but is in no way uncomfortable, but if I was to put on some more muscle, I might need a second hand pulling on the arm warmers.

Use

Every rider who enjoys getting out on their bicycle in the spring, fall and winter will quickly fall in love with the Pro SL Classics Jersey II. Even Cross, Gravel and XC riders can benefit from it.

With the extra vest I am comfortable all the way down to freezing.

I always reach for it in temperatures between 6°C and 15°C, and if it is cooler, I just add an additional vest to my ensemble. With the extra vest I am comfortable all the way down to freezing. I spent the last winter riding the jersey in cold, rainy weather almost every day, tackling Road rides and off-road excursions on my Gravel bike. Every time, I was impressed at how well the Pro SL Classics II performed.

Gravel rides are no match for this jersey.

My impressions

What would have Bernard Hinault done to have been able to switch out his frozen, and soaked cotton jersey for one of Endura’s? I would bet anything. Soon I’ll be riding routes like Cauberg, Keutenberg, Côte de la Redoute und Côte de Saint-Nicolas just like the pros. For these epics, I’ll definitely have the Pro SL Classics II with me at all times.
