The bc Racing Crew at the Riva del Garda BIKE Festival

Our crew raced hard and did a great job this weekend shredding at Garda Lake!

The bc Racing Crew hit the track once more at the BIKE Festival in Riva del Garda, Italy. This time, Theresia took on 3 different races, while Christian and Björn shred the Enduro event. Get an idea of how things went below!

Theresia - 3 days, 3 races!

What a weekend! I spent it riding 3 races on 3 consecutive days. And to top it off, they were all from different disciplines: Eliminator, Marathon and Enduro.

Shred the city!

The Ghost City Eliminator Race on Saturday night was a ton of fun. The best part was the format itself, which brought all sorts of MTB racers to the scene from CC to Downhill riders. Seeing all types of cyclists fighting to get to the next round brings a certain high-level energy to the entire event. I was also very excited to have made 2nd place in the race as well.

Fighting through the Marathon

The Rocky Mountain Bike Marathon started on Sunday at 07:50 am. That means, I didn’t get much sleep the night before and I could tell immediately. The first uphill really took a toll on me and my allergies started to act up due to the pollen in the air. I often wanted to push, but I still rode up the 1200 vertical meters and descend the gravel and asphalt roads back down to Riva del Garda. Still even though I gave my best, I only came in 6th place.

Time for Enduro!

The Scott Enduro race started on Monday with Christian crashing on stage 1. I was unsure if I wanted to continue, but Christian told me to get my butt in gear. A friend of ours took him to the hospital and I rode the rest of the race very carefully. At one point, my shifter cable housing ripped and thanks to the winner of the race, Tanja Naber, I was able to continue because she loaned me her spare housing. I was still very happy to claim 2nd place, but I was even happier to hear that Christian was doing fine.

Overall the weekend was great! We spent time with good friends and enjoyed some tasty ice cream to boot!

Christian - A stage 1 crash

I was ready to rock as soon as my tyres hit the dirt. Everything was going really well. The first technical sections were mastered and the cornering was going great. However, pretty early into Stage 1, I crashed and afterwards I don’t really remember much. My friends told me that I still finished the stage, but as a medic checked me out, they said I should go to the hospital. Luckily nothing was broken and I am doing fine!

The weekend was still fun. I mean with enough pizza, cappuccinos and ice cream it’s hard to have a bad time.

Björn - 6th place in the Enduro race

This was my first Enduro race of the year and boy was it fun. Well, except for Christian’s crash. However, for the rest of us, the stages went mostly well. Stage 2 went good with me taking the 4th fastest time, but in stage 3 I ended up demolishing my rear wheel and triangle. I rode the rest of the race very carefully and was very happy to find out that I still took 6th place! I am pumped to continue racing and I am looking forward to the rest of the season with my crew!
