#ourseasonwithliteville: Julian’s Liteville 601 MK4 Enduro bike

My 601 MK4 is my dream bike and I love riding Enduro with it. It meets all my needs and will keep me shredding hard throughout the 2018 season!

What’s up y’all! Together with my colleges Rainer and Amin, I am riding the 2018 season on a Liteville bike! My decision to go with a 601 MK4, or super Enduro frame, was deliberate because of my focus on downhill performance. However, the 601 is also great for Enduro races and our local Aachen trails.

Special frame features

The 27.5” wheels, lots of travel and its clean looks all meet my expectations, but the special features of the frame require a keen eye. The Liteville 601 is now in its fourth iteration and has been updated with tech like EVO6 rear end, an EIGHTPINS dropper post and internal cable routing. Of course the raceblack paint job also catches the eye.

Weight 14.98 kg

The suspension

For my entire suspension setup, I went with RockShox. In the front, I’ve got a Lyrik RCT DebonAir fork with 170 mm of travel. Because I’m taking part in various Enduro races and longer rides this year, I went the version of the fork with a lockout remote. The 601 comes with a Vivid Air R2C rear shock, which works great for the descent, but soon there is going to be a change to help me take on the ascent better. Stay tuned to find out more!

The Vivid Air R2C really helps hammer through the rough stuff.

Shimano's XT derailleur is known for its reliablity and with the added RockGuard SL it's gonna take alot to damage it.

e*thirteen's trs Race cassette offer 511% of range.

hope's Spiderless direct mount cranks are stiff, and their F20 pedals have tons of grip.

The drivetrain

Unlike Rainer’s 301, I wanted a Shimano XT 11-speed groupset combined with an e*thirteen trs Race cassette. The e*thirteen cassette gives me a range of 511%, which is great for ascent and descent. Rounded out with hope parts like the Spiderless 175 mm cranks, 30 tooth chainring and F20 platform pedals, I am ready to ride anything. Another, nifty feature is the Syntace RockGuard SL which protect my rear derailleur from becoming damaged, especially when riding in the bike park.

The brakes

When choosing brakes, two things were important to me: hardcore braking power and no fading. The hope Tech 3 V4 where exactly what I needed with the added bonus that the orange finish with the braided hoses matched the bike. For both rotors, I went with 203 mm hope Floating discs.

The hope Tech 3 V4 brakes not only bite, they look fine in that orange and black too.

The hope caliper is just as sexy, especially combinded with the matching Floating disc rotors.

The wheels & tyres

I wanted to stick with the hope looks, and the Pro 4 + Tech Enduro Boost wheelset was a perfect match. Of course, I needed to re-spoke the rear wheel to match the EVO6 rear end of the frame, but with the right tools, this wasn’t a problem. For tyres, I choose the Maxxis Shorty WT for the front and the Ardent Dual EXO Protection for the rear. Both were mounted up tubeless so I can ride lower pressures.

The hope rims with Maxxis tyres is just a great combo.

The rest

My cockpit features a hope FR/AM 50 mm stem, 780 mm Renthal Fatbar Carbon bars and the Lizard Skins Lock-On grips in the MacAskill edition. In the case of the seatpost, the EIGHTPINS dropper with its 220 mm of travel, integrated design and maintenance friendly construction was the only option. At the moment, these posts are only available on Litevilles, and they are truly a dream. For my saddle I went with the SQlab 611 Ergowave active, which I was able to choose based on my seat bone distance via SQlab’s measuring system. Definitely the most comfortable saddle I’ve ever ridden.
