In 1988, Michael Eidson, founder of Camelbak, was competing in a 100 mile race in the scorching summer heat of Wichita Falls, Texas. There, you are hard pressed to find water and without it you would be in serious trouble. Eidson was an emergency medical technician by trade and he decided to fill an IV bag with water and pack it in a sock. He stuffed the system inside his jersey pocket threw the hose over his shoulder and clipped it to the front. Just like that, hands-free hydration was born. Since then, Camelbak has greatly improved upon Eidson’s original design and now produces various drinking systems including high-quality backpacks and bottles.
