A flexible space miracle: the Vario QL3 Backpack by Ortlieb

As its name suggests, the Vario is a flexible space-saver that can be converted from a practical bike bag to a comfortable backpack. The waterproof Vario, made of tear- and abrasion- resistant nylon fabric, is equipped with a practical roll closure and offers space for DIN A4 documents and a 15.4" notebook. On the bike, it can be attached to cargo racks with a tube diameter of up to 10 mm via the innovative Quick-Lock3 system. The mounting points stay attached to the cargo rack, the back of the bag is free from annoying hooks. The padded back with shoulder straps and adjustable chest strap can be stowed in a space-saving manner in the front zip compartment, and can be quickly and easily attached to the back of the bag if required. When the bike helmet is not in use, it can be securely fixed to the backpack with the integrated holder.

Quick-Lock3 Mounting System
The Ortlieb Quick-Lock1 and Quick-Lock2 bike bag mount systems, which have proven their worth over the course of time, were joined by another innovative version in 2011 - Quick-Lock3. The highlight of this system, which has been specially developed for office and city bags, is that the main holder components for the bag are located on the bicycle rack. This keeps the back of the bag free of protruding hooks and significantly improves comfort while carrying. The signature advantages of the Ortlieb Quick-Lock systems are of course also found in Quick-Lock3: comfortable, tool-free one-handed operation, automatic locking and unlocking of the hooks by lifting the bag by the handle, mounting rail on the left or right (which can be attached to horizontal or vertical struts as desired). Another practical feature is the height and tilt-adjustability of the suspension for increased pedalling freedom. The lower mounting hook can be rotated 360 degrees (in 24 steps of 15 degrees each) for individual adaptation to a wide variety of cargo racks. The horizontal support surface remains free for baskets, containers, etc. The mounting rail is compatible with Quick-Lock1 and Quick-Lock2 suspension systems from Ortlieb.
