They contain the required precision even after long periods of use (not comparable with unhardened, 4-way slotted collet chucks and those made from brass or aluminium). Through 3-way slotting, which is much more difficult to complete than 4-way slotting, a better bed results. This is important for the centric capture of shafts with low diameters.
