QUARQ technology powers SRAM's road power meters including the groundbreaking SRAM Red QUARQ power meter.
How power meters work:
Power meters calculate power by measuring the torque (pedal force) and the angular velocity (cadence). Power = torque x cadence.
When you press on the pedals, all parts of the bikes drivetrain displace (flex) slightly under the load. Power meters are designed using finite element analysis to displace in a very controlled manner in specific locations in response to applied load. Strain gauges are used to measure the displacement and thus calculate the applied torque. Reed switches are used to calculate cadence.
SRAM power meters use a proprietary strain gauge arrangement and precision digital circuitry to delivery high accuracy and low power consumption for optimal battery life.

Inside QUARQ power meters:
ANT+™: A wireless standard for bicycle electronics that ensures interoperability between sensors and bike computers from different manufacturers.
OmniCal™: Power measurement is independent from chainring selection. Switch from road to TT chainrings without impacting accuracy. No recalibration necessary.
Power Balance™: Displays the ratio of power generated in the right drive stroke (first half) versus the left drive stroke (second half). Let you work on an equal pedal stroke over 360 degrees of rotation.

Habe den Powermeter in in mein Cube Crossrace Pro (Modell 2016) eingebaut. Habe da ein Shimano Hollow-Tech RS500 Kurbelset ersetzt. Ging easy mit dem Lager https://www.bike-components.de/de/SRAM/GXP-Innenlager-p26280/grau-schwarz-BSA-o11600277/. Als Chainrings habe ich die zu RS500 passenden von Shimano genommen, auch kompatibel.

Wichtig ist das Powermeter mindestens alle paar Ausfahrten (am besten zu Beginn jeder Ausfahrt) zu kalibrieren. Wenn man das macht, dann hat man zumindest mit dem Elite Drivo fast deckungsgleiche Ergebnisse (die Dynamik des Signals ist beim Quarq höher als die des Drivo), im "stabilen" Betrieb zeigt der Quarq ca 2-3 Watt mehr an als der Drivo. Leider man zum Kalibrieren mal ins Menü eintauchen. Das ist z.B. bei den Stages-Powermetern besser gelöst, da meldet der Edge 820 nach ein wenig Bewegung des Powermeters schon "Kalibrieren?".
Die Android-SW zum Quarq ist leider unterirdisch...
Super ist aber, daß ANT+ und Bluetooth simultan funktionieren: meine Garmin-Geräte (fenix3, Edge 820) lauschen auf ANT+ und das Adroid-Telefon mit Strava auf Bluetooth. Auch die Zwift-Software hatte mit dem USB-ANT+ Empfänger (beim Drivo mitgeliefert) keinerlei Probleme.
Habe mit meinen beiden Garmin Geräten stabilen ANT+-Empfang, dett fur Bluetooth mit der Strava-App auf meinem Android-Telefon (Moto Z Play)
