Quick replacement: the Plug-In Sprockets for Speedhub by Rohloff

Since 2016, Rohloff has equipped all hubs in the current series with a splined sprocket system. Turning or replacing a sprocket is then very easy without a chain whip or cassette removal tool. Due to the same component basis (screw connection), existing hubs can be retrofitted or converted with this splined system. When converting from screw-on to plug-in sprockets, please also order the Splined Carrier or, in special cases, Splined Carrier S.

Rohloff offers a template to check for collisions between the frame strut and the sprocket.
When using the plug-in sprocket system, the chain tensioner requires the long frame bolt.
The use of a closed chain guard (Hebie etc.) must be checked individually for compatibility.

Due to the extended number of teeth, many chainring / sprocket combinations are possible. The permissible or desired transmission ratio can be determined with the Gears-Meters Table. In practice, a gear ratio (chainring: sprocket) of 2.5 - 2.8 has been proven to be suitable for touring/everyday use. However, if you are travelling off-road and in the mountains, you can choose your own individual gear ratio down to a minimum factor of 1.9.

Comparé au pignon à visser que celui-ci remplace, j'apprécie la facilité de montage sans outil. Après avoir roulé de longues années avec le pignon à visser, je ne remarque pas de différence, ni au niveau du fonctionnement, ni à celui de la durabilité.

Seit der Umrüstung auf das Steckritzel ist mein Rohloffrad eine einzige Ratterkiste. DIES IST BEI ROHLOFF AUCH BEKANNT. Es klingt wie eine schlecht eingestellte Kettenschaltung, sehr störend.
Nach vielen eMails, Telefonaten und einer eingeschickten Nabe war die Idee von Rohloff, eine Art Kleberpaste zwischen die Zähne des Carriers und das Ritzel zu schmieren. Das Geräusch kommt vom Spiel zwischen Ritzel und Carrier und ist einfach nicht wegzukriegen. Kette und Kettenblatt wurden auch schon getauscht und der Tipp von Rohloff, die Kette mit Oil of Rohloff totzuölen bringt auch nichts....
Es hat nichts mit der geänderten Kettenlinie zu tun, was ich allerdings für sich schon unzumutbar finde, dies einfach so zu ändern, man kann die Kettenlinie ja kaum mal schnell verstellen.
Mir hats den Spass an einem tollen Rad verdorben und ich bin einfach nur enttäuscht.

In einigen Konfigurationen können durch die Passung am Ritzelträger Laufgeräusche enstehen. Das war vor allem bei Gates Zahnscheiben durch die erhöhte Riemenspannung der Fall, kann aber auch bei Steckritzeln vorkommen.

Dafür hat Rohloff den Splined Carrier mit Lockring entwickelt. Dieser unterbindet die minimalen Bewegungen, die zu den Laufgeräuschen führten:

Endlich lässt sich das Ritzel ohne die Gefahr von Beschädigungen einfach wechseln! Da ich diese Prozedur 2x im Jahr machen muss, habe ich meine Nabe mit Schraubritzel umgerüstet. Die Haltbarkeit des Steckritzels ist, auch mit der etwas geänderten Kettenlinie, nicht schlechter als die des Schraubritzels.

Ich habe meine Nabe mit dem Ritzel und dem Carrier nachgerüstet, was problemlos (mit Rohloff-Abzieher) möglich war. Der Ritzelwechsel ist damit wesentlich vereinfacht. Positiver Nebeneffekt ist der im Vergleich zum geschraubten Ritzel deutlich günstigere Preis.
