EX1 is the world's first drivetrain system designed specifically for the unique requirements of E-MTBs. Using the proven DNA from the SRAM 1x™ Technology, it provides optimal gear increments for more precise shifting and the best gear range for mid-drive E-MTBs. The EX1 rear derailleur takes the rugged construction and precise shifting characteristics of the X-Horizon™ and combines them into the world's first rear derailleur designed specifically for E-MTBs. The EX1 rear derailleur is designed for high torque and low cadence shifting in an E-Block™ cassette with 11-48 teeth. This enables the rider to shift gears cleanly and reliably at all times, so that he can concentrate better on his journey.

Technology:

X-Horizon™:
The parallelogram design of the X-Horizon™ rear derailleur limits movement along the horizontal axis, eliminating ghost shifting and reducing the force required for shifting. The large offset of the upper shifting roller ensures a constant chain distance in every gear for faster and more precise shifting.

X-Sync™:
X-Sync™ 1x chainrings by SRAM provide the highest performance and durability. Long SRAM X-Sync™ tooth edges grip the chain earlier than standard triangular teeth. The sharp and narrow tooth profile and the rounded bevelled edges support the chain guide. To guarantee the best possible performance for muddy terrain, X-Sync™ chainrings have recesses for the inner chain links and rollers to remove dirt and mud. German-made X-Sync™ chainrings are an important part of SRAM 1x drivetrains.

Cage Lock™:
Due to the Cage Lock™ Technology in the rear derailleur, removing and fitting the rear wheel and chain is quicker and easier than ever before. Simply push the cage forward (to release the chain tension) and lock it.

Roller Bearing Clutch™:
In the new X0 and X9 series rear derailleurs, Roller Bearing Clutch™ Technology ensures that the cage can build tension. A needle bearing prevents any light forward movements, the chain remains under tension and does not hit the strut. This prevents the chain from jumping off even without a chain guide on the crankset.

X-Actuation™:
Developed specifically for SRAM 1x™, X- ACTUATION™ keeps shifting sharp and consistent across the entire cassette.
