The BR-M8020 disc brake by Shimano - four pistons for XT

Shimano has developed the XT BR-M8020 4-piston disc brake to help trail riders and E-MTB bikers get more braking power. It has 20% more braking power than the BR-M8000 2-piston brake. The caliper comes in combination with the proven, I-Spec II compatible XT BL-M8000 Servo Wave brake lever, so that for aggressive trail riding or applications in the E-MTB sector more tuning options are now conceivable. Of course, BR-M8020 is also equipped with Ice-Tech and One Way Bleeding technology.

Servo Wave
The Servo Wave brake lever takes up a lot of braking distance at the beginning of its movement so that the pads can be guided to the brake rotor with short lever travel. After the brake pads have been applied, the power transmission factor increases rapidly. The greater part of the lever travel is thus still available to increase the braking force and to modulated it more precisely.

I-Spec II
The XT M8000 levers are compatible with the I-Spec II system, which allows the shift and brake levers to be mounted on the handlebars with just one clamp, giving more freedom in cockpit design, saving weight and improving ergonomics through a wide range of adjustment options. Simple assembly with narrow brake lever clamp. More space on the handlebars and a tidy look. Maximum vertical adjustment range: 15°, maximum horizontal adjustment range: 12 mm. I-Spec II brakes are not compatible with I-Spec, I-Spec B and I-Spec EV shifters (and vice versa).

One-Way Bleeding is designed to quickly and easily prevent air from entering the hydraulic system. Shimano has optimised the brake fluid flow path throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from being trapped in the system.
One way oil routing plus a funnel tool with mineral oil provides an easy and clean bleeding system.

Fading of the brake during prolonged uninterrupted operation, e.g. downhill, impairs braking performance. Shimano has introduced brake rotors and pads with Ice-Tech technology to create a cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake rotor has a three-layer stainless steel sandwich structure on the outside encasing an aluminium core. It radiates heat better and reduces surface temperature from 400° C to 300° C, for example. The brake pads also have optional cooling fins. The design of the rotor in combination with the cooling fins results in a longer service life of the pads, less braking noise, less fading and lower weight.
XTR, Saint-, XT, SLX and ZEE callipers are combined with oversized ceramic pistons to achieve light weight, high rigidity and optimised heat dissipation. Oversized pistons transfer the hydraulic power directly to the brake pad. A ceramic material is used to avoid heat transfer and ensure constant, safe braking performance. This provides efficient brake force transmission without losses.

Hab mir die befüllte Variante für mein MTB gegönnt um meinem Systemgewicht inklusive Fahrrad von etwa 98kg gerecht zu werden. Super dosierbar, einfachste Installation und Einstellbarkeit. Im Vergleich zu MT5 etc. sind die XTs nicht so bissig was mir persönlich gut gefällt. Da gibts beim Anbremsen nicht so einen harten Ruck wenn manstark in die Eisen geht. Dann wähle ich den Bremspunkt eben einen Meter früher.

Fahre jetzt mit Kombi XT 4 Kolben Vorne und die 2 Kolben XT hnten. Bin jetzt mehrmals im Gebirge Kroatiens gefahren und ist enorme Verbesserung für mich. Wiege über 90 kg und die Bremse kam nie ans Limit, im Vergleich dazu ist die Deore schwächer. Danke an BC für den vorab Test, kann es nur bestätigen. Das Wandern des Druckpunktes kann ich nicht bestätigen, muss noch dazu sagen dass ich die Bremse vorher noch entlüftet habe.
