Shimano XT Trekking BR-M8000 + BL-T8000 disc brake set - 3-finger brake lever plus MTB brake caliper
The Shimano XT Trekking T8000 disc brake set is based on the BR-M8000 brake calipers, which are well known and proven in the Mountain bike sector. They convince not only with their simple One-Way bleeding, but above all by their even, powerful and predictable braking performance. On the lever side, the City & Touring specific 3-finger brake levers BL-T8000 with banjo connection are used, which are characterized by easy operation and good modulation with minimum empty travel. The reach can be adjusted without tools. Thanks to I-Spec II there is also the possibility of a flexible cockpit design.

The XT T8000 levers are compatible with the I-Spec II system, which allows the shift and brake levers to be mounted on the handlebars with just one clamp, giving more freedom in cockpit design, saving weight and improving ergonomics through a wide range of adjustment options. Simple assembly with narrow brake lever clamp. More space on the handlebars and a tidy look. Maximum vertical adjustment range: 15°, maximum horizontal adjustment range: 12 mm. I-Spec II brakes are not compatible with I-Spec, I-Spec B and I-Spec EV shifters (and vice versa).
One-Way Bleeding is designed to quickly and easily prevent air from entering the hydraulic system. Shimano has optimised the brake fluid flow path throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from being trapped in the system.
One way oil routing plus a funnel tool with mineral oil provides an easy and clean bleeding system.
Fading of the brake during prolonged uninterrupted operation, e.g. downhill, impairs braking performance. Shimano has introduced brake rotors and pads with Ice-Tech technology to create a cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake rotor has a three-layer stainless steel sandwich structure on the outside around an aluminium core. It radiates heat better and reduces surface temperature from 400° C to 300° C, for example. The brake pads also have optional cooling fins. The design of the rotor in combination with the cooling fins results in a longer service life of the pads, less braking noise, less fading and lower weight.
XTR, Saint-, XT, SLX and ZEE calipers are combined with oversized ceramic pistons to achieve light weight, high rigidity and optimised heat dissipation. Oversized pistons transfer the hydraulic power directly to the brake pad. A ceramic material is used to avoid heat transfer and ensure constant, safe braking performance. This provides efficient brake force transmission without losses.
With J-Kit Shimano refers to the still unassembled delivery of its disc brake kits. This saves time during brake installation, especially if you want to run the brake line internally. The brake lever and brake caliper are not yet connected by the brake line. The enclosed brake line is already filled with oil and closed by a protective cap. Before installing the brake lever, remove the protective cap of the line and the lock on the brake lever.
