The XTR Enduro BR-M9120 disc brake by Shimano - full control
The Shimano XTR Enduro BR-M9120 disc brake has four ceramic pistons for additional brake power in aggressive Trail and Enduro use as well as an aluminium brake lever, with which the reach and contact point can be adjusted without tools. Servo Wave technology ensures optimum conversion of the lever travel into deceleration power. Also noteworthy is the design of the BL-M9120: its angled clamp is located more centrally than its predecessor, so that the reservoir is supported by the handlebars at the outer end. This results in more stiffness, a more direct braking sensation and more control. The two-piece Ice-Tech brake caliper can of course be easily bled using One Way Bleeding. The present version is supplied with a metallic pad with cooling fins.

When you pull a Servo Wave brake lever, initial pad travel is fast, so little lever movement is needed to bring the pads into contact with the rotor. The power multiplication factor then increases rapidly at the pad-to-rim contact so more of the lever stroke is used to apply greater braking power with improved control.
With the I-Spec EV construction, the Shimano shifter can be mounted directly on the brake lever, so that a clamp is not required and the adjustment range can be significantly increased. 14 mm are available with I-Spec EV for longitudinal adjustment and 60° for rotational adjustment, allowing each rider to make a setup to suit their individual anatomy or preferences. I-Spec EV shifters are not compatible with older I-Spec systems.
One-Way-Bleeding was developed for quick and easy prevention of air in Shimano's hydraulic system. They have streamlined the oil route throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from being captured in the system.
One way oil routing plus a funnel tool with mineral oil provides an easy and clean bleeding system.
Brake fading during prolonged uninterrupted operation, e.g. downhill, impairs braking performance. Shimano has introduced brake discs and pads with Ice-Tech technology to create a cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake rotor has a three-layer stainless steel sandwich structure on the outside around an aluminium core. It radiates heat better and reduces a surface temperature from 400° C to 300° C, for example. The brake pads also have optional cooling fins. The design of the rotor in combination with the cooling fins results in a longer service life of the pads, less braking noise, less fading and a lower weight.
XTR, Saint, Deore XT, SLX, Zee, Deore LX calipers are bundled with Ice Technology pistons in order to achieve optimized lightweight, high rigidity and heat dissipation. Oversized pistons transfer hydraulic power directly to the brake pad, and ceramic material is used to avoid heat transfer for constant stable braking, providing efficient stopping power transfer without loss.
