Shimano Direct Mount:
Standard rear derailleurs from Shimano are connected to the frame/dropout with the B2 Body Plate (small movable mounting arm). Direct mount rear derailleurs no longer have this mount, and are connected directly to the designated frame/dropout. Current 10-/11-speed rear derailleurs from Shimano can be easily converted and mounted by removing the B2 body plate from a direct mount rear derailleur.
