CNC-milled and anodised in a variety of colours, Nicolai is quite proud of these cable holders. They not only look good, but their screw connection also offers multiple technical advantages. Every weld seam and spot on the frame weakens the aluminium, as the heat generated from welding affects and changes its structure. A small weld seam on the cable holder weakens the tube only slightly, but the tube is less weakened by a small seven-millimetre drill hole with a retracted thread. And that's just the beginning. You can turn the bent 2x cable guides around, so that the cable outlet is positioned at 4 or 8 o'clock. This way, you can fold cables neatly and lay a double Rohloff shifting cable right or left past the head tube.
The cable guidance on Nicolai models is designed to keep cable movement at a minimum. The advantage: the sheathed wires move much less in the shift cable sheath and only emerge from the sheath much later than with normal cable holders. This means that the rear derailleur shifts longer and with greater precision.
