The Shimano OT-SP41 polymer shifter cable set for road bikes contains cables with a polymer coating that, under a microscope, resembles tubes wrapped around the cable. As a result, the surface that rubs against the liner is reduced and the grease is retained longer. This reduces the shifting forces and speeds up the gear shifts in general.
In addition, the entire length of the liner of the SP41 housing is pre-lubricated with special grease. This is characterised by low friction, durability and purity.
