Shimano SM-RT54 Center Lock brake rotor with external toothed lockring


The Shimano SM-RT54 brake rotor comes with a new type of lockring, which is serrated on the outer edge. It may only be used with resin pads. Its body is made of stainless steel, the spider is made of aluminium. SM-RT54 is compatible with disc brakes from the XTR, XT, SLX, Deore, Saint, ZEE, Alfine series and many other groupless MTB and City & Touring brakes.

Initially poor breaking due to the one-sided burrs aroud the (punched out) holes. It took some 200km for the disk to wear in and get a decent 'bite'. After that it continued improving to the excellent bite I was used to.
If you can live with this wear in behaviour it offers an excellent price to quality ratio though.
