#ourseasonwithliteville: Amin’s Liteville H-3 MK2 hardtail

When I’m not on my Liteville 901, I’m shredding this beast of a hardtail to both have fun and train my legs off!

Of course, during my Downhill races, I’m on my Liteville 901, but when it comes to conditioning, I need something I can get moving on. To make this happen, I decided to build up a Liteville H-3 MK2 hardtail. I use it mostly for local trial rides, the occasional Enduro race or when I commute to work. The H-3 is the perfect all-rounder to meet my needs.

Frame features

Most people don’t really consider how special the H-3 frame is. The modern geometry, stiffness and the huge range of application make it the perfect bike for everything short of Dowhnill races. The playful 27.5” wheels combined with the option of putting in a 150 mm fork, keep the bike agile and fast with plenty of travel to go around. Still, the thought-out geometry make longer rides and climbing a non-issue.

The suspension

Because of the Marzocchi fork I’ve been riding on my Downhill bike, I decided to install the new Z1 of the same brand. Just like the Marzocchi Bomber 58 the Z1 has been reintroduced. It matches my riding style great and is super reliable. It’s like getting a Fox-quality fork at a Marzocchi price and I only had to sacrifice a bit on weight.

A great looking bike from the front.

The drivetrain

Those who have ridden Eagle are not likely to go back to anything else. So for my H-3 I’m running the SRAM X01 Eagle groupset. I’ve also been riding crankbrothers Mallet DH pedals on three different bikes, so I kept things consistent. Because a hardtail can leave a chainstay looking nasty, I also put MarshGuard Slappertape on it to keep things quiet and clean.

12-speed for all the hills.

The brakes

I like a clean cockpit and when you’re running a SRAM drivetrain, SRAM brakes keep things looking sleek. However, I also went with SRAM Level TL %category=9002|title=brakes%} because of the great modulation and the price to performance ratio.

The brake caliper stops me quick in all conditions.

The wheels & tyres

I need stiff and reliable wheels, so I went with Syntace W33i. They meet all of my requirements and they look good with the same race-black finish as the frame.

The terrain decides what tyres I ride, but most of the time you can see me on Maxxis Minion / Shorty or various Onza models. Both of brands do a great job at adding the extra plush and puncture protection.

So nice...

The last bits

I mean, of course I went with Syntace for both the stem and the handlebars. I can always put my trust in them, especially the Megaforce and Vector Carbon models. Besides that I have an EIGHTPINS seatpost and the same Fabric Scoop saddle I ride on my Liteville 901.

Mmhhh that cockpit...

A dream

The Liteville H-3 MK2 is the perfect bike for me when I’m not riding Downhill tracks. It is stiff, agile and can take a hit when hitting the trail. It is also great for long days in the saddle and is overall a wonderful bike. Sure I use it to train, but it is so much more. I couldn’t ask for a more cable MTB.
