The Saturn 11 frame from Nicolai is a reliable base for building a versatile cross-country or full-suspension, all-mountain racing bike with 29" wheels. 105 mm suspension travel is combined with a balanced geometry. A rather flat steering angle and steep seat angle as well as a low bottom bracket, long chainstays and a long reach, which is best combined with a rather short stem, result in fast acceleration and efficient propulsion even on steep climbs. When riding downhill or on technical sections of a trail, smoothness and freedom of movement ensure both safety and increased speed. Careful weld work makes the frame particularly robust and creates the signature Nicolai weld seams. Thanks to the weight-optimised design, there is not a gram too much on the frame. The large pivot points with double-sealed bearings are resistant to dirt and grime and underscore the focus on durability. The Saturn 11 is your bike for marathons, alpine cross and fast trail rides at your doorstep.

Features:

  • well-balanced modern geometry with relatively flat steering angle and rather steep seat angle enables efficient propulsion uphill and smooth rolling downhill
  • one-piece manufactured deflection rocker
  • standing shock: force goes into the bottom bracket (stiffest point of the frame), thus reducing material stress
  • topologically-optimised design for the lightest and stiffest possible frame components
  • weight-optimised and durable
  • double butted seat tube
  • low bottom bracket
  • plenty of freedom of movement
  • large dimension pivot points with multiple sealed cartridge bearings
  • thorough and deep welding
  • optimised for 51 mm fork offset
  • short stem recommended due to long reach
  • headset minimum offset below 11 mm
  • sophisticated GEOLUTION geometry
  • made in Germany

Technology:

GEOLUTION
GEOLUTION is the geometric concept on which all current Nicolai models are based. It was developed by Nicolai and Chris Porter. The concept is based on the knowledge that a longer wheelbase, a flatter steering angle and a steeper seat angle make the bike faster, smoother, safer and more ready to climb. The GEOLUTION concept combines perfect handling with optimal climbing behaviour.
The rider is integrated into the bike by the long reach, the steep seat angle and the long wheelbase, so that the centre of gravity is optimally located between the front and rear wheel axle. All GEOMETRON models are ridden with short stems so that the driver has a relaxed, sporty seated position despite the long top tube. This complicated subject can be simplified to 4 advantages, which offer both professionals and beginners a clear added value: best climbing ability (front does not climb), no roll-over feeling downhill, the rider sits and stands integrated in the wheel (more control), higher cornering speed (more grip on the front wheel).

RADO
To make sure you hit every lane on the trail, Nicolai mounts a form-fitting, exchangeable drop-out on all frames for adjusting the toe and camber. Due to the distinctly-milled right dropouts for adjusting the camber, the rear only needs to be slightly readjusted after assembly, which relieves the strain on the material. The respective camber height is milled into the RADO with numbers 0, 1, 2 or -1 and -2. After the toe and camber have been adjusted, the RADO is fixed with a pin at the factory. This means that the original setting can be easily reproduced when replacing it. This is the only way the manufacturer can guarantee that Nicolai products operate precisely on tracks.
