Shimano Deore crankset FC-M5100-B2 - for 148 mm over locknut dimensions
The Shimano Deore FC-M5100-B2 crankset for 11-speed drivetrains differs from the FC-M5100-2 by its chainline, i.e. the distance from the frame to the centre between the chainrings. This is 51.8 mm here, or 3 mm wider, so that the cranks are only suitable for frames with an over locknut dimension of 148 mm. However, the two chainrings are also mounted on this model via a conventional 4-arm spider. Thanks to the 2-piece construction, a balanced ratio of stiffness to weight is ensured.

This increases the stiffness and keeps the weight low. Further spaced bearings also improve strength and contribute to more pedalling efficiency. The precision manufacturing of the bearings ensures easy installation and low maintenance. 2-Piece cranks share a 24mm axle diameter with Hollowtech II cranks, so they are also compatible with Hollowtech II bottom brackets.
