The hydraulic Shimano GRX disc brake for gravel use combines the BR-RX820 front brake caliper with the ST-RX820-LA brake lever. This is an STI that can control a mechanical dropper seatpost instead of shifting. It is mounted on the left side of the drop bars and is therefore perfect for 1x setups, which only require a regular shift/brake lever on the right. The integration of the remote function into the brake lever is not only practical, it also makes for a tidier cockpit. You have a maximum of 10 mm of cable stroke at your disposal. As far as braking is concerned, ST-RX820-LA impresses with more control on mixed surfaces and with ease of use. The lever and lever body ergonomics have been specially adapted for gravel use and for flared handlebars. The aluminium lever has a textured coating to prevent slipping. The reach of the lever can be adjusted with the help of a hex key. The pad engagement point is also adjustable. You also benefit from Shimano Servo Wave technology for a more targeted application and a more efficient use of braking power.
The BR-RX820 flat-mount brake caliper impresses with excellent brake control, improved modulation and faster conversion of inputs. It is built more compactly than its predecessor and has 10% more space for the brake pads, which reduces noise. The simple bleeding process via one-way bleeding is well known. The BR-RX820 is made of lightweight aluminium, has two brake pistons made of synthetic resin and a straight hose connection. The disc brake is supplied with a cable, cable housing, brake hose and organic pads with Ice-Tech cooling fins for heat dissipation. Of course, it is also compatible with sintered pads and can be combined with brake rotors from 140 to 180 mm.

Servo Wave
Shimano Servo Wave technology optimises the travel of your brake levers. During the braking process, the brake pads are guided quickly to the brake rotor with very short lever travel. The greater part of the lever travel is reserved for the actual braking force. In this way, you can apply your braking power in a more targeted manner and use it more effectively.

One Way Bleeding
One Way Bleeding is a technique used on Shimano calipers that facilitates brake bleeding. The hose routing has been optimised so that no air bubbles remain in the brake calliper. In combination with the funnel, the brake can be bled cleanly and easily.
