Gnot Boost:
The Surly Gnot Boost technology allows the mounting of different over locknut dimensions on the rear wheel. Rear wheels with 12 x 142 mm or 12 x 148 mm thru-axles can be mounted by clamping or spreading the frame. Wheels with an over locknut dimension of 135 mm can be operated in frames with Gnot Boost technology using the rear wheel axle adapter.

For frames with struts on the top tube, this is measured from the middle of the bottom bracket to above the struts.
