All of our blog articles are written by our editors: carefully researched, checked, and created in line with our editorial guidelines. On this page, we transparently show you who is behind the posts, how we create articles, and how we work with AI tools.

Why we run a blog

We write our blog because bike-related topics are exactly what we care about and love. That is why we also know how quickly you can hit limits when it comes to cycling: terms are unclear, standards change, and a lot of information online contradicts itself. That’s why we want to offer content that helps you find your way and genuinely supports you. Our goal is to explain things in a way that makes sense - whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been in the saddle for years.

For us, it’s not about publishing as much as possible, but about answering helpful questions well. We aim to stay close to the community and address the topics that matter to cyclists. We share hands-on experience, put technical details into context, and show what really matters in practice.

Every article is created editorially: we research, write, proofread, and review content before it goes online. If facts change or we notice a mistake, we update the article. And if you point something out to us, we’ll take a look and start a correction process if needed. That way, the blog can be a place for you where information doesn’t just sound good, but is reliable.

Our editorial team - in brief

Our authors create content for everyone who loves cycling as much as we do - whether you’re a beginner or a pro. We combine our own experience with thorough research and clear quality standards.

What you can expect from us:

  • Editorially produced: Every blog article is written and owned by real people.
  • Hands-on: We’re cyclists ourselves, use many products almost daily, and can therefore better understand our customers’ perspective.
  • Reviewed: Our texts go through several checks, and we do our best to keep articles as up to date as possible.

Who writes at bike-components?

At the beginning of each text, you’ll find the editorial team responsible for that blog post. Our authors specialize in different areas such as road cycling, gravel, trekking, or MTB. This experience and expertise are the foundation of our articles.

Experience & expertise

For us, experience and expertise come from hands-on practice, product know-how, and careful research. Every author brings their own focus and stands behind the professional quality of the content. The profiles next to the blog articles show you who’s behind each post.

Our author Marisa

Marisa’s favorite terrain is smooth, well-paved roads with a slight downhill. But she’s also fascinated by gravel bikes and bikepacking adventures - whether it’s to the sea, through Northern Italy, or once all the way across New Zealand. At bc, she coordinates the content team.

Our author Phil

Whether enduro trails, freeride descents, or long gravel tours - Phil feels at home anywhere two wheels are rolling. As a passionate rider, he lives and breathes cycling in all its facets and is up for every bike adventure.

Our author Kai

Kai feels at home on almost any type of MTB, from a trail hardtail to an enduro - his focus is definitely on descending. For a change of pace, he also enjoys riding a gravel or dirt bike. At bc, you’ll almost always find Kai with a camera.

Using AI tools

We use AI tools only as editorial support. For example, we use AI assistance to support research or to structure and prepare information.

Our blog posts are created by our editorial team. They are always written, reviewed, and published by a real person. This means that we deliberately avoid using AI tools to generate running text.

Responsibility for content and statements always remains with people. Our authors check sources, put information into context, and ultimately make all decisions themselves about structure and presentation.

How we create our content

1
Step 1: Research & briefing

Step 1: Research & briefing

We look at which topics are requested by our community or could be interesting, and we try to stay up to date. What new products are out there? What’s shaping the scene? These are typical questions we ask ourselves before writing a post. Then we think about how we want to approach the article. Are we addressing beginners or experienced riders? What questions might readers typically have? All of this happens before the actual writing process begins.

Step 2: Writing process & images

Step 2: Writing process & images

Once the research and concept for a post are complete, we start the writing process. We do not use artificial intelligence or generative tools to create running text. Every one of our texts is written for you by a real person.

We also aim to create most of the images for our blog posts ourselves. Our media team produces meaningful, as true-to-life-as-possible images so you can better assess products and details.

Step 3: Quality check & publication

Step 3: Quality check & publication

Before a post goes online, we check it for content, plausibility, language, and consistency. Unclear statements are refined at this stage and, if necessary, supplemented with additional information. We also review the page structure so the article is clearly organized and easy to read. Before publication, we double-check technical specifications or compatibility details against the manufacturer’s data once again.

Sources & methodology

Which sources do we use?

  • Manufacturer manuals & specifications
  • Data sheets / compatibility information
  • Standards / norms
  • Measurement / setup notes

How do we verify information?

  • Identify and resolve contradictions
  • Prioritize official documentation when there are conflicts
  • Provide context (e.g. the model year or setup discussed)
  • Phrase unclear points more precisely

What we don’t do:

  • We don’t make up sources, data, or test results.
  • We don’t give incorrect recommendations.
