Shimano Saint disc brake set BR-M820 - top performance for DH
The Shimano Saint BR-M820 disc brake set with its powerful 4-ceramic piston brake calipers is the ultimate Downhill and Gravity brake. Thanks to Ice Technologies, the system does not overheat and the braking performance remains constant even on the most difficult descents. One way bleeding also allows the calipers to be quickly and easily bled. On the brake lever side, the BL-M820-B Servo Wave, a design for better modulation of the braking force, and the I-Spec integration option for shifters and brake levers, score points.

The Servo Wave brake lever takes up a lot of braking distance at the beginning of its movement so that the pads can be guided to the brake rotor with short lever travel. After the brake pads have been applied, the power transmission factor increases rapidly. The greater part of the lever travel is thus still available to increase the braking force and to modulated it more precisely.
Mounting system for the integration of shift and brake lever. It provides a tidy look, more space on the handlebars and light weight.
Note: The I-Spec brake levers have a new mount as of 2014 (version B). As of now, there is no compatibility to shifters with old I-Spec mounts. However, these can be made compatible with the new I-Spec brake levers using the new I-Spec adapters (SM-SL98-B for XTR, SM-SL78-B for XT and SLX, SM-SL82-B for Saint). There is no compatibility with I-Spec II or I-Spec EV.
One-Way Bleeding is designed to quickly and easily prevent air from entering the hydraulic system. Shimano has optimised the brake fluid flow path throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from being trapped in the system.
One way oil routing plus a funnel tool with mineral oil provides an easy and clean bleeding system.
Fading of the brake during prolonged uninterrupted operation, e.g. downhill, impairs braking performance. Shimano has introduced brake rotors and pads with Ice-Tech technology to create a cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake rotor has a three-layer stainless steel sandwich structure on the outside encasing an aluminium core. It radiates heat better and reduces surface temperature from 400° C to 300° C, for example. The brake pads also have optional cooling fins. The design of the rotor in combination with the cooling fins results in a longer service life of the pads, less braking noise, less fading and lower weight.
XTR, Saint-, XT, SLX and ZEE callipers are combined with oversized ceramic pistons to achieve light weight, high rigidity and optimised heat dissipation. Oversized pistons transfer the hydraulic power directly to the brake pad. A ceramic material is used to avoid heat transfer and ensure constant, safe braking performance. This provides efficient brake force transmission without losses.
With J-Kit Shimano refers to the still unassembled delivery of its disc brake kits. This saves time during brake installation, especially if you want to run the brake line internally. The brake lever and brake calliper are not yet connected by the brake line. The enclosed brake line is already filled with oil and closed by a protective cap. Before installing the brake lever, remove the protective cap of the line and the lock on the brake lever.
