XT FC-M8000-B2 crankset by Shimano - chainline three millimetres further out

The Shimano XT FC-M8000-B2 crankset is a variant of the FC-M8000-2 with a chainline that is 3 mm further out. It can therefore only be used in frames with 148 mm rear over locknut dimension. The aluminium crank is equipped with two chainrings in 24-34 or 26-36 tooth increments. It has been optimally tuned with regard to gear ratio and even pedalling rhythm (Dyna-Sys11 technology), whereby the Hollowtech II design with fixed 24 mm axle, which has been tried and tested for many years, ensures a balanced ratio of stiffness and weight.

Note: A chainline 3 mm further out is intended only for hubs with 148 mm over locknut dimension. Shimano B cranks therefore require special frame dimensions with the corresponding cassette position and front derailleur mounting position. Such frames are only compatible with E-Type and Direct Mount derailleurs.

Hollowtech II
Shimano Hollowtech II is a crank bottom bracket system designed to achieve an ideal ratio of stiffness, weight and rotational efficiency. It is based on an integration of the bottom bracket and the right crank arm and works with a 24 mm axle or bearing diameter, which has proven to be optimal in terms of stability. In many cases, the bearing cups are on the outside so that the load is better distributed. High-quality precision seals ensure a long service life.
