The LS Carbon 28" Gravel Bike by Factor in the Ekar bc Edition - A British gravel racing machine with an Italian drivetrain

The LS Gravel Bike from Factor is outfitted in the exclusive bc edition with a Campagnolo Ekar groupset, Shamal carbon wheels and Black Inc add-on parts.
The 950 g lightweight carbon frame forms the basis for a competition-oriented gravel bike. The aggressive geometry of the bike and optimal stiffness values impress with effortless handling that lets you adapt quickly to changing surfaces, gravel roads and potholes. The relatively small wheelbase maintains manoeuvrability off-road. The larger outer diameter of the 700C gravel tyres is compensated by the lowered bottom bracket, which gives it an optimal position. The defined seat tube angle and the linearity of the stack-reach ratio give riders of all body sizes a perfect fit.
The 13 gears in the Italian 1-speed derailleur offer a fine gradation in mountain gears. On flat surfaces, you have enough gear range to go full throttle. The slightly raised rims on the Shamal wheels are streamlined and have a low weight. Climbing or hot target sprints will not be a problem. Black Inc's aerodynamic handlebar stem unit and seatpost also contribute to the strong performance of this gravel bike.
The LS bike lets you race over all gravel tracks, where high speed is the motto!

I bought this bike because the geometry was very similar to a road bike and I wanted to use a road bike with a single chainring.
POSITIVES: The bike is spectacular, light, responsive and extremely stable. The Ekar groupset is amazing, it shifts smoothly and the 42 / 9-42 chainring/cassette covers exactly the range i need, either for the hills around Zurich or for tours in the Alps. The Campa brakes are very effective, can be finely modulated and are pefect for long alpine descents. The Shamal wheels are stiff, robust and precise. The BlackInc bar is fantastic, very light, comfortable and handlebar.
NEGATIVES: the bar band is poor as it slipped after few km and it is not soft enough. It is a bit difficult to set the saddle on the BlackInc saddle post as the clamp is pressed (I could not find any instructions in the web). The the replacement of spoke on the Shamal wheels require a special magnet tool, which is not provided and difficult to find online. It could have been provided along with the wheels, given their value. Last but not least, at high speed (>60kmh) the bike is a bit unbalanced and the front fork/bar seems more nervous. I am not sure if this has to do with the gap between the fork and the tire or the front/rear weight distribution, however it is something one needs to get used to. All in all the above do not affect the overall rating, which it would be 4.5, but I give rather 5 than 4 stars.
