Pletscher Athlete - functional pannier rack with pump tips

The Pletscher Athlete is a modern and functionally designed pannier rack for city and touring bikes up to 29 inches. It has a reflector mount and pump tips to which a mini-pump up to 240 mm long can be attached underneath the pannier rack. The EasyFix system allows accessories such as a shopping basket or kids' bike seat to be quickly fitted and changed. The Athlete is made of powder-coated die-cast aluminium with rust-resistant hardware for extra durability.

I have a love and hate attitude towards this rack.

Good:
- Very strong, even after 7-8 years, it is super sturdy, even with very heavy loads.
- The spring is integrated and strong, holds well.
- The front U-mount is folding back if needed, it was very helpful on many occasions for big boxes etc.
- It can accept the Andersen Shopper Easysnap A1 mount. Actually, this was the main reason to choose this rack.
- Thanks to the different plates/adapters, it can be mounted to many different types of bicycle geometry and size.

I didn't like:
- It needs an extra C shaped adapter for holding bike-panniers in place. That is an extra €25.
- The Quick-Rack Adapter system is quite wobbly. The plastic version is very wobbly. The metal version (to mount on the bottom of the baskt) is strong, and stays in place, however, it still tilts left-and-right, especially on bumps.

I switched to the Racktime Tourit rack, works much better. Needed some sawing to add the Andersen Easysnap A1, but it was not difficult.
