The Shimano BR-R317 brake caliper - Compact design, flat profile

Shimano BR-R317 is a brake caliper for mechanical disc brakes that can be used in road cycling and cross-country cycling. It pleases with its compact design and flat profile. Pad readjustment has been improved over a previous version, as has the New Super SLR technology for optimal response and good dosing. A synthetic resin pad and an adapter for mounting the post mount brake caliper on an IS frame are included.

Cheap mechanical caliper with a strong bite —and decent modulation, too.

I can stop the bike quickly and safely with just my index fingers on a 15%+ descent, no problem, and adjust the the speed from the hoods with ease.

It’s also easy to set up and adjust.

Gute Funktion, Einstellung der mechanischen Bremskörper ist etwas schwieriger als die von hydraulischen. Sehr gut ist der nun ausreichende Schwenkwinkel für den beweglichen Bremsteil.

Rundum Sorglos Scheibenbremse für Crosser ohne Chi-Chi.
Kein Entlüften, keine Dichtungen die bei -10 Grad versagen.

Bremskraft ist OK, muss aber dauernd nachgestellt werden.
