Shimano XT BR-M8100 disc brake set - full concentration on the trail

Shimano XT BR-M8100 is a two-piston disc brake set with organic brake pads specially designed for Cross Country applications. The brake callipers feature excellent brake control and a simple connection system. The I-Spec EV compatible BL-M8100 brake levers are mounted at an angle to provide an additional contact point. This increases stiffness and provides more direct feedback. In addition, Shimano Servo Wave increases braking power: more performance is available with shorter empty travel.

Servo Wave
Servo Wave optimises the leverage of your brake levers. During the braking process, the brake pads are guided quickly to the brake rotor with very short lever travel. The greater part of the lever travel is reserved for the actual braking force. This technology allows you to control your braking force more precisely and to apply it more effectively.

I-Spec EV
I-Spec EV describes a variant of the connection between brake lever and shifter in MTB drivetrains. This type of mount allows the shifter to be adjusted both horizontally and vertically in relation to the brake lever and keeps the cockpit tidy by reducing the number of clamps needed. Compared to I-Spec and I-Spec II, I-Spec EV offers a much wider adjustment range. 14 mm adjustment range the longitudinal direction and up to 60° rotation allow an optimal ergonomic adjustment to your riding style, your sitting position and your anatomy.

One Way Bleeding is a technique used on the brake calliper that makes it easier to bleed the brake. The hose routing has been optimised so that no air bubbles remain in the brake calliper. In combination with the funnel, the brake can be bled cleanly and easily.

J-Kit is a simple hose connection system for hydraulic brakes on internally routed hoses so that you can install your brake quickly and easily. The brake hose does not come connected to the brake to facilitate the routing of the hose in the frame. The brake hose is already filled with oil in the J-Kit and sealed with a thin membrane. There is a small pin in the J-Kit brake lever that pierces this diaphragm during assembly to allow oil to flow.

Die Montage war verhältnismäßig einfach. Allerdings sind Werkzeuge zum Einpressen des Insertpins und zum kürzen der Leitung zu empfehlen. Die Bremspower ist auch mit „low budget“ Bremsscheiben ist genial. Und der Druckpunkt ist nach der Trichterentlüftung knackig und perfekt.
Wenn lieferbar eine klare Kaufempfehlung!

Vorsicht bei der Montage, am Bremsgriff befindet sich im Anschluss für die Leitung ein gelber Stopfen. Darunter ist der Messingklemmring gesteckt. Die Montage ist genau so fummelig wie bei den Magura MT. Entlüften problemlos, man braucht aber den passenden Schlauch zum Befüllen des Sattels.

Gewohnt gute Shimano Qualität. Ob sie tatsächlich besser ist als das Vorgängermodell, wird sich noch erweisen. Zwei Anmerkungen: 1.) Wenn man die Bremsleitung kürzen muß, benötigt man das Montagewerkzeug Shimano TL-BH61 zum Einschlagen des beiliegenden Insertpins. Dieses Werkzeug wird nicht mitgeliefert. 2.) Zieht man den Verschlußstopfen aus dem Bremshebel, kann Hydrauliköl ungehindert austreten. Deshalb: Bremsgriff mit dem Leitungsanschluß nach oben fixieren, Verschlußstopfen ziehen und in dieser Position die Bremsleitung montieren. Danach kann der Bremsgriff am Lenker befestigt werden.

Anders als bei vorherigen Generationen liefert Shimano das TL-BH61 Werkzeug bei der BR-M8100/20 nicht mit. Dementsprechend ist es auch nicht mehr im Lieferumfang aufgeführt.
