The Specialized Epic World Cup Pro 29" carbon mountain bike is fast and refined

The Specialized Epic World Cup Pro 29-inch carbon mountain bike is a cross-country full-suspension racer with a sophisticated chassis design and innovative SRAM X0 Eagle Transmission components. Design and equipment put the podium place within reach: the shock is cleverly integrated into the top tube, which, together with a high-quality carbon layup, ensures high stiffness. The 75 mm rear suspension travel is only noticeable when you want it to be, and feels more like 100 mm thanks to the WCID design. The suspension fork with Brain Technology analyses the path in front of you and independently selects the right setting. The bike is equipped with high-quality Roval Control carbon wheels and the electronic SRAM X0 Eagle Transmission AXS groupset, in which the rear derailleur and cassette are precisely coordinated like clockwork thanks to direct mounting without a derailleur hanger and allow you to shift without worry. Bike handling is extremely agile and precise with excellent pedalling efficiency and control. The Epic World Cup is also impressive in terms of weight: the frame weighs only 1765 grams including the shock. By the way, the bike is equipped with an axle-based power meter that helps you analyse your performance.

Technology:

FACT™
FACT is an acronym for " Functional Advanced Composite Technology" and summarises all the know-how that Specialized has in the use of carbon fibre. It is a holistic approach, which primarily concerns the bike frames, but is found in many components such as handlebars, stems, saddles etc. The starting point is always the awareness for the needs of riders and the capability to fulfil them. Next, the selection of fibres, resins and fabric layers takes place; in this process the quality of the carbon and the arrangement of the fibre layers play an important role. It is important to find the right set-up for the project at hand and the intended location or rather the area of application. It is often necessary to differentiate from model to model at several points. In the final step, attention is paid to processing the material in a way that allows the desired advantages in terms of low weight, rigidity and stability to be achieved.

WCID
WCID shock technology was jointly developed by Specialized and RockShox and features independently adjustable positive and negative air springs. This allows the pressure in the negative air chamber to be adjusted to a specific degree. Together with rebound and compression damping settings, you choose the right set-up for the track ahead, your riding style and your preferences. At the same time, the suspension travel feels like more than is nominally available. This is because you generally run the shock with little SAG, resulting in more positive travel. If you want a hard rear triangle like on a hardtail, you can also ride without any pressure at all in the negative air chamber and reduce the negative suspension travel to 0.

Brain
The Specialized Brain Technology is a system for the automatic adjustment of the suspension characteristics of shocks and dampers and suspension fork. It will seamlessly switch between hard, tight and soft, active settings, depending on whether the terrain is flat or rough. The bike thinks for you so that you can concentrate entirely on the trail. The technology is based on an inertia valve that blocks the flow of oil when closed, but opens immediately when struck, allowing the suspension to engage. Brain naturally distinguishes between shocks from the ground and shocks from the pedal. In its current version, the system, which was first used in 2002, is more durable and requires less maintenance than ever before and also offers a wider, individually adjustable bandwidth between maximum tautness and maximum activity.

Rider-First Engineered™
Rider-First Engineered describes the design approach used by Specialized to precisely match each frame size to the target group. Simply put, smaller frames for smaller riders are built in a different way than larger frames for larger riders. This is done on the basis of performance parameters determined in practical tests, taking into account the forces acting on different areas of the bike when riders of different sizes ride it. Based on this analysis, the optimum tube dimensions and the appropriate carbon fibre covering for the respective frame size are determined. This way you can be sure that no matter what your height is, you will receive a bike that delivers optimal and controllable performance suited to your size.
