Specialized Roubaix SL8 Sport Shimano 105 Carbon Road Bike - metallic obsidian-birch/28"/M

Specialized Roubaix SL8 Sport Shimano 105 Carbon Road Bike

Item number: 93342
The Specialized Roubaix SL8 Sport with mechanical Shimano 105 2x12-speed drivetrain and Shimano disc brakes is a super-smooth long-distance carbon road bike. With its endurance geometry, unique integrated damping and up to 40 mm tyre clearance, it lets you float over rough roads, cobblestones and light gravel.
The Future Shock 3.1 hydraulic system built into the head tube offers you 20 mm of suspension travel and thus ensures smoother steering and more control, regardless of your position on the bike. You'll be fast, lively and confident even on rough surfaces. Preload and suspension stiffness can be individually adjusted to your weight and riding style.
The counterpart to the Future Shock cockpit is the Pavé seatpost with lowered seat clamp, which deflects impacts horizontally, yields perfectly vertically and, in combination with the stiff rear triangle, contributes to efficient progress.
Overall, the Roubaix SL8 is built in such a way that your hands, arms and shoulders are relieved and that you don't sit on the bike, but in the bike, so to speak, and merge with it. The aerodynamics have also been improved and the weight reduced compared to the predecessor model. Mounting points for three bottle cages, a top tube bag and even mudguards whet the appetite for bike adventures.
However hellish the road may be, with the Roubaix you will experience a heavenly ride.

FACT
FACT is an acronym for "Functional Advanced Composite Technology" and summarises all the know-how that Specialized has in the use of carbon fibre. It is a holistic approach, which primarily concerns the bike frames, but is found in many components such as handlebars, stems, saddles etc. The starting point is always the awareness for the needs of riders and the capability to fulfil them. Next, the selection of fibres, resins and fabric layers takes place; in this process the quality of the carbon and the arrangement of the fibre layers play an important role. It is important to find the right set-up for the project at hand and the intended location or rather the area of application. It is often necessary to differentiate from model to model at several points. In the final step, attention is paid to processing the material in a way that allows the desired advantages in terms of low weight, rigidity and stability to be achieved.

Rider-First Engineered
Rider-First Engineered describes the design approach used by Specialized to precisely match each frame size to the target group. Simply put, smaller frames for smaller riders are built in a different way than larger frames for larger riders. This is done on the basis of performance parameters determined in practical tests, taking into account the forces acting on different areas of the bike when riders of different sizes ride it. Based on this analysis, the optimum tube dimensions and the appropriate carbon fibre covering for the respective frame size are determined. This way you can be sure that no matter what your height is, you will receive a bike that delivers optimal and controllable performance suited to your size.

Future Shock 3.0 series
The Future Shock 3.0 system is an adjustable damping hydraulic system developed by Specialized for road and gravel bikes. It is based on a cartridge with a spring, which is used in the head tube. When you ride over a bump in the road, it offers up to 20 mm of travel - in a vertical direction to be specific. This results in a shock-absorbing effect without - as would be the case with horizontal compliance - any loss of speed. This allows you to ride more comfortably and prevent premature fatigue, which in turn increases performance.
Compared to earlier versions of Future Shock, the 3.0 series is more durable and, above all, individually adjustable. Spacers can be used to increase the preload, thus reducing the negative suspension travel (sag). No spacers are fitted ex works. The spring can also be replaced with a harder or softer one. This allows adjustments to be made to your preferred riding dynamics and body weight. While Future Shock 3.1 and 3.2 differ only slightly in their design - 3.2 uses a damper screw - 3.3 is equipped with a rotary knob that allows the compression level to be changed while riding.
