The Smartshock Rotational Protection System improves bicycle helmet safety by mitigating the effects of angular acceleration and deceleration on the brain. In the event of an oblique impact, this system immediately begins to dissipate rotational energy to the outer shell of the helmet. Other helmet systems do not interact with rotational forces until they have migrated through the helmet's layers.
