The Shimano ZEE BR-M640 brake caliper has proven itself among freeriders for many years. It is a powerful 4-ceramic piston system with a highly rigid design that always supports its rider even on demanding terrain. This is ensured by Ice Technology with optimum heat dissipation and innovative heat management. The painted aluminium brake caliper can be mounted both front and rear and can be bled quickly and easily using One-Way Bleeding. Synthetic resin pads are supplied.

Technology:


One-Way-Bleeding
One-Way Bleeding is designed to quickly and easily prevent air from entering the hydraulic system. Shimano has optimised the brake fluid flow path throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from being trapped in the system.
One way oil routing plus a funnel tool with mineral oil provides an easy and clean bleeding system.

Ice-Tech
Fading of the brake during prolonged uninterrupted operation, e.g. downhill, impairs braking performance. Shimano has introduced brake rotors and pads with Ice-Tech technology to create a cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake rotor has a three-layer stainless steel sandwich structure on the outside encasing an aluminium core. It radiates heat better and reduces surface temperature from 400° C to 300° C, for example. The brake pads also have optional cooling fins. The design of the rotor in combination with the cooling fins results in a longer service life of the pads, less braking noise, less fading and lower weight.
XTR, Saint-, XT, SLX and ZEE callipers are combined with oversized ceramic pistons to achieve light weight, high rigidity and optimised heat dissipation. Oversized pistons transfer the hydraulic power directly to the brake pad. A ceramic material is used to avoid heat transfer and ensure constant, safe braking performance. This provides efficient brake force transmission without losses.
