The Turbo Kenevo SL Expert 29" E-Bike by Specialized - Light, strong, perfectly adjustable

The Specialized Turbo Kenevo SL Expert Carbon is a very light enduro e-bike with 170 mm of travel, equipped with a SRAM X01 / GX Eagle mechanical groupset, Fox Performance shock and suspension fork, X-Fusion seatpost, Roval aluminium wheels and SRAM Code RS brakes. Its 240-watt, weight-optimised motor and 320-Wh battery double your own pedalling power to help you conquer the most difficult and inaccessible terrain. The agile geometry with its short chainstays and the linkage design, which ensure a particularly efficient rear triangle thanks to a degressive damper characteristic, were designed for aggressive trail use. You can adjust the setup to your riding style and situation by changing the bottom bracket height via a flip chip, and adjusting the steering angle via headset cups. Incidentally, the innovative Micro-Adjust function allows for fine-tuning the motor assistance in 10% steps, so that the Kenevo SL leaves nothing to be desired in terms of adjustability. Another highlight is the LCD display on the top tube, which gives you a lot of important data.

Technology:

FACT™
FACT is an acronym for " Functional Advanced Composite Technology" and summarises all the know-how that Specialized has in the use of carbon fibre. It is a holistic approach, which primarily concerns the bike frames, but is found in many components such as handlebars, stems, saddles etc. The starting point is always the awareness for the needs of riders and the capability to fulfil them. Next, the selection of fibres, resins and fabric layers takes place; in this process the quality of the carbon and the arrangement of the fibre layers play an important role. It is important to find the right set-up for the project at hand and the intended location or rather the area of application. It is often necessary to differentiate from model to model at several points. In the final step, attention is paid to processing the material in a way that allows the desired advantages in terms of low weight, rigidity and stability to be achieved.

FSR
The Specialized FSR linkage design is based on a four-joint design with Horst Link in the chainstay, which separates the seat stay from the main pivot point of the rear triangle. This allows the pedal and brake force to be decoupled from the suspension, so that the compression and rebound are solely dependent on the nature of the terrain. This not only converts more energy into forward drive which is direct and without rocking, but also leads to more traction and thus more control. In addition, the FSR system can be fine-tuned to all the possible areas of applications and terrains.

S-Sizing
S-Sizing means a frame size classification that not only takes your inner leg length into account, but also your riding characteristics. Here Specialized employs Sidearm Design, an asymmetric shock mount that contributes to the stiffness and agility of the bike without increasing its weight. The Turbo Kenevo SL shares geometry adjustability with the Stumpjumper EVO. The steering angle can be altered via headset cups, and the bottom bracket can be raised or lowered via Horst Link flip chip, so there are practically six different geometries to choose from. This way you can ensure that the set-up fits exactly to your preferences as a rider, and also suits your riding style.

E-Bikes by Specialized
Specialized e-bikes are designed in California and developed with Swiss technology. They take the " It's you, only faster" approach, which means that you have the impression of riding a " normal" bike without motor assistance, but with at least twice as much power. Specialized e-bikes are characterised by a particularly quiet, smooth running electric drive. Due to two special freehub bodies, the crankset and motor shaft are decoupled from each other in such a way that no additional pedalling resistance occurs when the motor is switched off (at speeds above 25 km/h). The battery of Specialized electric bikes is aesthetically and well protected integrated in the down tube. An innovative Battery Management System (BMS) is used to maximise battery life and protect the cell structure. The bike communicates with the rider via the Turbo Connect Unit (TCU), which connects via Bluetooth and ANT+ to a Turbo Connect display, third-party devices and/or the Specialized Mission Control app. This offers additional options such as route planning, route recording or automatic capacity management.

MasterMind Turbo Connect Unit (TCU2)
The further developed TCU is a LC colour display on the top tube, which is protected from dirt and damage with a scratch-resistant, water-repellent coated glass. It can be operated via the handlebar remote and displays the speed, battery status, assist mode (Eco / Trail / Turbo) and the motor settings as well as the rider power in watts, the motor power in watts, the riding time and the estimated range. It also informs you about the time, the live watt-hour consumption of the engine and, thanks to a built-in barometer, the current altitude and altitude gain. The Turbo Connect Unit can be paired with a heart rate monitor via ANT+ or Bluetooth. Whatever you want displayed, you can totally configure freely.

Micro Tune
The remote button can be used to increase motor support and peak power in 10% increments. This results in less-drastic changes when alternating from Trail to Turbo, for example. This gives you certain advantages when riding in groups, as it allows you to adapt better. In addition, fine adjustments save battery power and thus increase your riding range.
