The USB-Werk is connected to the hub dynamo and makes the energy usable by delivering 5V voltage and up to 1A current. An integrated, small buffer battery ensures that the voltage supply remains at a constant 5V even at a slow pace and during short stops. The USB -Werk is therefore ideally suited for charging and operating all kinds of USB devices: mobile phones, GPS trackers, MP3 players, etc.

PLEASE NOTE: Information regarding charging with the USB WERK

To fully charge the buffer battery, which supplies the charging current and keeps it constant, you have to drive for about 20 minutes at a speed of over 17 km/h without a USB device connected - and with the lights off. Afterwards, the USB-WERK is optimally prepared within the scope of its possibilities for operating/charging a USB device.
It is not comparable to a normal mains charger for mobile devices; it supplies power to terminal equipment. When running applications, this can be enough to recharge the battery, while during high power consumption it may only be enough to slow down the discharging process. The higher the driving speed, the more charging current is potentially available. At slow speeds, the buffer battery can never recharge in charging mode, because the dynamo only provides limited energy (about 3 W at a speed of about 15 km/h). However, some mobile phones, consume up to 5 W. This means that the buffer battery is initially charged without power being made available via the USB output. As soon as a certain level of charge is reached, the USB output switches on. When the mobile phone empties the battery, the power supply via the USB output is switched off again at the minimum charge level, and the buffer battery is recharged again. This leads to interruptions, which some USB devices indicate with the 'charge start' sound.

In general, the E-WERK provides a higher power output than the USB-WERK, since the E-WERK does not have an integrated buffer battery that functions as a power storage unit. However, to charge some more sensitive mobile devices, E-WERK requires an additional, separate buffer battery to keep the power supply constant. This buffer battery is not suitable for connecting to the USB-WERK.
