Incredible braking performance: the Bora Ultra 35 wheel by Campagnolo

The Bora Ultra is characterised by its new brake flanks. The AC3™ technology (All Conditions Carbon Control™) was developed not only to increase the already great braking performance, but also to address a fundamental drawback of carbon rims: braking performance on wet roads. Apart from the visibly textured brake sidewall design, the construction of the Bora wheels has also undergone an optimization. The fibres were arranged in such a way that they guarantee maximum integrity in interaction with the new braking surface. The sophisticated material composition withstands higher temperatures, increasing braking performance by 3% in the dry and an incredible 43% in the wet compared to previous Bora wheels.

Dynamic Balance™
The concept is simple and ingenious: balance the mass of the rim joint with an equivalent mass positioned exactly on the other side of the rim. For carbon fibre rims, a special process is used to align the carbon layers so that the rim is always balanced(Rim Dynamic Balance™ = RDB).

CULT™
CULT™ stands for Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology. This project is based on the exclusive Cronitect® steel according to Schaeffler Group's " Advanced by FAG" technology, which is used for the ball running surfaces of the bearings. Steel that does not require grease for lubrication, but only a small layer of oil. The high quality ceramic balls, since they do not require grease and the processing of the bearings is extremely precise, allow a drastic reduction in friction and consequently increase the smoothness of the wheel by a factor of nine compared to the standard versions. An extraordinary result achieved thanks to the application of the most advanced material processing technologies. The test performed consists of accelerating the wheel to 500 rpm and then stopping the drive. The test results are amazing: wheels equipped with CULT™ bearings continue to move for 45 minutes, i.e. 9 times longer than a wheel with standard bearings.

G3™
Campagnolo developed a lacing pattern that, compared to a conventional wheel, allows improved energy transmission, reduces the stress on the spokes on the right side of the rear wheel and increases lateral stiffness. In G3™ geometry, the right side of the rear wheel has twice the number of spokes compared to the left side.
The advantages of the G3™ system are astonishing: better transmission of power, greater lateral rigidity and reduction of spoke tension on the rear wheel. Thanks to the G3™ system, which compensates for the forces acting on the 2 sides of the wheel, vibrations are eliminated even for people with heavier weights.

Spokes anti-rotation system™
Some Campagnolo wheels feature the anti-spin system for spokes patented by Campagnolo. This system increases the performance of the spokes to an unprecedented level. Campagnolo engineers have redesigned the interface between spokes and hubs from the ground up, creating a connection system that keeps the spokes in the same position at all times. In this way the spokes of Campagnolo wheels do not rotate, do not lose tension in use and do not compromise aerodynamics.
