Ice-Tech
Shimano Ice Technologies provide a fast heat dissipation at your disc brake. The brake pads are equipped with aluminium cooling fins. The brake rotor is constructed using a sandwich technique in which stainless steel encloses an aluminium core. The stainless steel on both flanks ensures long durability, the aluminium allows heat dissipation.

Coupled up with a pair of ice tech pads, braking with this rotor is genuinely silent and powerful. On the other hand this rotor is consumable. Due to its triple layer 'sandwich' construction, after an extended period of use this rotor becomes thinner and can no longer be used as the two outer layers deter. However, this has not put me off at all from purchasing a second pair of these top noch rotors because of their superb braking power, strength, durability and absence of irritating squeaking sounds.

This 203mm disc lasted 5 years. Breaking power with SLX resin pads is plenty for hard trails and xc. However, the aluminium core MELTED suddenly and the brake system failed during a long descent in the alps. This is a design flaw or limitation nothing more. Replaced with SM-RT99.

These are the best rotors out there. I'm using it on all my bikes and I never experienced brake fading. Very good product.
