The Shimano Sora CS-HG50-9 is a 9-speed cassette for road bikes with Hyperglide (HG) technology. This means that the sprockets have been optimised for faster, smoother and quieter gear changes. The Sora cassette fits on 8- to 10-speed road/MTB freehub bodies, but also on road 11-speed freehubs, if you use an 1.85 mm spacer.

Shimano Hyperglide cassettes (HG cassettes) have strategically-positioned ramps and special tooth profiles so that the chain can be completely guided directly onto the next sprocket.
