Elegant simplicity: the PD-8 hub dynamo from Shutter Precision

The P-Series dynamos are not only powerful but also effective, and offer an unmatched efficiency of 72% at 15 km/h. Although the disc brake version is subject to higher loads and thus has a reinforced interior hub housing, it maintains a sleek appearance and low weight. A powerful magnetic core further ensures high performance, and this version is also available in different colours and a variety of spoke hole counts.

For a nice weather riding only. The bearings are not properly sealed against water and can't be serviced or replaced by the user. Had two of these hubs over couple of years, both wen't down with the same problem.

Have only used it for 6 weeks, but seems fine. Can feel slight rubbing every few minutes- assume it's the magnets generating power. No rust, not bits falling off. I know it's early days, but seems fine.

This is my first dynamo, and I almost did not buy it. It's the price of a Shimano dynamo, but the weight of a $200-300 SON, and has even better efficiency, based on the % figures shown fior each product on this website. Usually, when things sound too good to be true..........thankfully the reviews here changed my mind. Saved a bundle avoiding SON, and saved hundreds of grams by avoiding Shimano. Crossing my fingers it continues to give good service!
